The immediate past member representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Kufre-Abasi Etuk has lampooned former Governor of the State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, alleging that Akpabio bribed members of the 5thAssembly to impeach former Deputy Governor, Obong Nsima Ekere.

How Senator Akpabio Bribed Us to Impeach Nsima Ekere- Kufre Etuk

Mr. Etuk stated this in an interactive session with a section of local newspaper publishers in the state. Though Mr.Ekere got wind of the plans, outsmarted them and resigned from his position in 2012, Etuk said the now Senate Minority leader is a dishonest person.

“Akpabio lobbied the House of Assembly members to impeach Nsima Ekere. In fact he was unhappy that the information leaked and Nsima resigned. But as a dishonest man, he blamed Nsima’s exit on Umana during the election.

“Akpabio is a dishonest person. He told me it was Godwin Ntukudeh that made me to fail my second term because he wanted me to fight my brother, Ntukudeh,” said Mr. Etuk.

He however stated the reason ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio stopped him from returning to the House in 2015.

“Former Governor Godswill Akpabio was angry with me in his second term, that he failed the election in Uruan while I won my election in 2011, in the same poll. That to me was undemocratic of Akpabio. He refused to snap with me when we were issued with the Certificate of Return at INEC office.

But he snapped with every other lawmaker including the ACN lawmaker, Edwin Joseph. I am not a person that anybody can say I made him what he is in life. So I will not lick any man’s boot to get any office in government”.

He berated the incumbent Transition Chairman of his Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Tony Akan for hanging on to power, saying “Tony Akan is now the life-chairman of Uruan Local Government council”.

He said it is a nice thing that the Government of Udom Emmanuel has sited the Hatchery in Uruan but stated that he will be happy to see the road leading to the project site being constructed and commissioned by the current administration.

He urged Governor Udom to state the cost of projects embarked by his government, saying “It is criminal and fraudulent for a governor to start a project and complete same without telling the people the cost of the project”.
