Alexis Sanchez Arsenal hat trick was world class says Wenger
Alexis Sanchez scored his first Arsenal hat-trick, Leicester City suffered their only loss and Arsenal are now within a win of the Premier League lead but this was a match still best remembered for a moment of sublime skill rather than any statistic.
People often question what Arsenal got for the club record £42.5 million fee for Mesut Ozil but, having already helped create two goals, there was a wonderful reminder on 57 minutes when he delivered the most aesthetically pleasing assist you are likely to see all season.
Arsenal were brilliant going forward today, Leicester were electric on the counter-attack. The Gunners’ quality shone through in the end and Ranieri’s men just weren’t able to take advantage of their early lead.
Sanchez was the best player on the pitch, Ozil and Walcott a combined close second for me. Riyad Mahrez was really exciting in the first half but drifted away after half-time but despite the big scoreline, Leicester were in this game right up until about the 60th minute.
Perhaps the demands of the first half took their toll on the players’ legs but Leicester can be very pleased with what they demonstrated they can do in this game.
Their early form is no accident.
It was like a delicate Tiger Woods sand-wedge to completely by-pass the Leicester City defence for Sanchez to score his second of the afternoon and effectively clinch Arsenal’s win.”
